This week is over!

Vanessa's on the mend. She slept through the night but woke up early coughing. Huge improvement from the night before. I forgot to mention the other injuries Vanessa incurred last week.
I was sitting at the table and out of the corner of my eye I saw Vanessa trip and land forehead first into the outside corner of the wall. I was sure that it was going to be a bloody mess but when I went to pick her up I saw only a bruise. Believe it or not I cheered her up by giving her orange pepper.
Later on in the week I was going to make her a special treat with dippy eggs. I put them into my egg cooker. She opened it up and got 2nd degree burns on the outside of her index finger. I put it under cold water and she was no longer bothered by it. Later on Eric noticed that there was a huge blister so we bandaged her up. It still doesn't seem to bother her and the blister has since popped.
One last thing... I'm not sure what happened but she seemed to be going down the stairs carefully and the next thing we knew she fell down about 8 stairs to the basement.
Vanessa is not accident prone usually so I'm glad the week is over and looking for a couple of accident free day.
On the upside I bought Vanessa a nice puzzle game that she loves. Whoo hoo. one for Mommy.

Rough end of week

This past couple of days exemplifies how the world revolves around your children. Vanessa had two cold free days before getting this doozy. It's a cough with runny nose. She's in great spirits until the end of the day rolls around and the lack of sleep catches up with her. Especially before dinner. She has no fever and is eating well so we thought we didn't need to go to the clinic...
Yesterday she started coughing and couldn't catch her breath. It was terrifying so we took her to the hospital to find out she had laryngitis and there's absolutely nothing we can do for her. The good thing is that the minute she saw the nurse she stopped coughing which she had been doing every 10 seconds to 1 minute over the last 24 hours.
On the upside she only coughed a few times last night and we went in and gave her some water and put her back to bed.
On a happy note, I was never so happy to come home to a nice hot dinner cooked in my slow cooker. Vanessa wasn't impressed but Eric and I sure were. After dinner, we went down stairs to watch a movie. Vanessa wanted to sit on my lap but couldn't settle down. All this time inside at home is getting to her so I brought down her her eating chair and some dessert. Rice pudding! home made of course. She gobbled that down since she wasn't so interested in dinner.
Today we're going nap free. Oh my! Eric just took her outside in the "warm" weather to ride her trike.
Pictures to come hopefully. We've been a little lazy about getting it out and finding the the batteries.

I'm Pregnant!

This news is better late than never. I'm 18 weeks pregnant. I've put a counter on the right to keep you up to date. We're pretty excited about this news. We've been trying explain this to Vanessa but for now she's pretty clueless for now.
We think she'll make a fantastic big sister. She's very patient and good natured. She loves babies and often move things out of Kieran's way even when he's not here. :-) This little one is due 10 days after Vanessa' birthday. I hope they don't share a birthday but at 36 months I might take anything.
Today was my second doctor's appointment. Everything went well. We heard this sweet thing's heartbeat for the first time. The heartbeat was healthy and we're thrilled but I knew this baby's full of spunk since I've been feeling some action in my belly and this time around I've got cravings. Not for anything healthy of course.
In two weeks we go for an ultrasound where this time around we're going to try and find out the sex of our bundle.
That's all for now and I promise to be around a little more.

Fun Facebook status I've posted over the last couple of months

Vanessa's gone! Crack open the pulpy apple juice

Vanessa took her potato wedge dipped it in honey and wanted me to eat it. When I said I was full, she said,"Come on. It's healthy." I love the way she thinks. hehehe

I would kill for some apple fritter doughnuts from Tim Hortons.

Yesterday Vanessa asked us to play football with her. She said we needed some shirts to play though. I told her to ask her dad.

The kids had a fantastic time at playgroup. Such joy dancing around but now I'm really stiff.

We went apple picking. It was grey but the rain held off for the ride home. Vanessa came home dirty. It's a good sign.

Cheerios and Ice Tea for breakfast? That's what Vanessa's accepting to eat on her delicate stomach.

I had a mother's rite of passage. Vanessa woke up and puked all over me. We had our first shower together. Good thing she loves showers.

Garage sale was worth it. We sold for 183$ and had a nice relaxing time in the sun reading a book thanks to Grandma.
it's funny that I can't muster the will to make dinner but I can find the energy to make peach crumble

Summer is ending and I got a sunburn today on my face. Vanessa was safe with her cute hat. (she's smarter than me)

I'm so mad! A thief cut our lock on the shed and stole both bikes but left my recumbent and the bike trailer

Vanessa's expression of the week, "Good Job Mommy!" or "Good Job Daddy!" with a big hug and pats on the back. She does it at such random moments when she's feeling good.

Summer 2009

Yup. We're still here enjoying ourselves but as you've noticed I haven't been blogging. Here's a little video of what we've been doing.
Playing in leaves, going to the JazzFest, learning to ride our trike, going camping and making friends and playing in parks.
There's so much more but I've got no pictures or video of that sorry.
