CUTE!
Today Vanessa was playing in the front hall cupboard while I was sitting on the stairs. I leaned over to peek-a-boo and knocked my head on the hand rail. Vanessa laughed and then walked over to me.
Vanessa:OK?
Mommy:yes thank you.
Vanessa: Kiss it better?
Mommy: Thank you.

Pizzaaaaaa!
On Vanessa's birthday I was going to keep it casual since her daddy wasn't sure if he'd have to work. We invited Fred and Grandma Colby to dinner. We made them pizza. What a fantastic time we had making pizza from scratch. Vanessa loved rolling out the dough and topping the pizza. I'm pretty sure half went into her mouth but that's the good thing about this pizza it was all edible before it went in the oven.
Vanessa lit up the evening with her usual smile. Raised her glass and said, "Cheers!" to Fred. She opened a few presents and when wooo weee at each of them.
We all had a great time. Onto her "real" party.

Vanessa's TWO
Vanessa's 2! We've stopped counting in months and now count in years. I think that's because they don't develop as quickly now but not in her case. She surprises me regularly with new things she can do. Every day I hear at least one new word. So far today it's macaroni.
Vanessa is totally adorable. She's good natured and always wanting to help. When you finish your plate she always asks if you want more. If you say no though, expect to be putting your dish straight in the dishwasher.
Vanessa is only two but I still think I can manage a 25 things about Vanessa
1. She's very energetic
2. She loves food. It doesn't really mater what.
3. Some of her favorite foods are pizza, salmon, vegetables, fruit, pasta.
4. Loves babies. They get her undivided attention.
5. Loves to play mommy. Puts dolls on her hip to carry them also nurse's them.
6. She can count to 15 but starts at 2
7. Right on queue she's started her first temper tantrums.
8. Loves music. Changes her mood in an instant.
9. Favorite non children genre music is AC/DC and Led Zeppelin
10. Loves water in any shape or form
11. Started specking in sentences.
12. when seeing the M for McDonald's she says French Fries.
13. says cheers and lifts her glass
14. Loves Elmo and Sesame Street
15. Asks for Word Girl and Curious George
16. Fascinated with bubbles
17. Everything, even dirty socks, smells good and insists you smell too.
18. Loves buses
19. Always takes her boots and socks off in the car
20. says Bye! Bye! Take care! when you're leaving
21. Gives Daddy a kiss goodbye and insist that Daddy give Mommy one too.
22. Exclaims Go Go sessa(Vanessa) Go Go sessa
23. Loves stickers
24. must close all the open doors
25. more running please in a soft sweet voice when she's on my back.

Cubaaaa!
Cuba. The abridged version.
No more than 6 days after Vanessa got out of the hospital we boarded a plane for Cuba. We included Vanessa and her Mommy and Daddy and Kieran and his Mommy and Daddy. Vanessa was healthy and done her antibiotics. I was still recouperating but mostly needed rest and relaxation. Vanessa was pretty easy going on the way down. She played on the rolling sidewalk in the airport. She wanted to walk it running towards her. Pretty funny. We had President's Chice chinesse food on the plane. We got to Cuba at 9pm and it was a chilly 12C. No big deal since it was much warmer than the mess we left behind. We were guarenteed no snow while there. The first couple of days we just settled in. The weather was pants even for Eric. We took the oportunity to go into town and check out the sights. We didn't find anything exciting in Veradero but it was fun to ride the double decker bus.

There was lots and lots of food. I wasn't impressed at all. Quantity over Quality but Eric must have enjoyed something because he put on 7lbs. Vanessa was very happy to have iceceab (icecream) every day and sometimes twice. They did have high chairs at every restaurant and by the end of the week Vanessa was giving the waitress her plate when she was done and ordering her milk. Vanessa liked the park and the swipoopool (swimming pool).
She giggled endlessly in the ocean waves and adding a WhooHoo every so often. Her favorite part was the dancing. They had a disco for kids at 8:30. It was lots of fun. Vanessa's started following the dance steps. We didn't take enough video that's for sure but here's a taste.
As we know Vanessa love younger children especially when they're stapped into a seat. While wating for the disco activity, she went to a 9 month old baby and grabbed his cheecks to face her and gave him a big smooch. Priceless!
We went to the "Cuban House" for a break after the beach. Vanessa and I played with the dominos. Check it out.
Chris and I went out one night for Hot Chocolate with Irish Cream. It was really good and incidently the only alcohol I enjoyed. It was nice to get out and chat like adults and not have to use the eyes behind my head. Travelling with them also ment some time for just Eric and I. That was nice.
We were sad to leave the warm weather but happy to go home. The ride home was not as much fun but I did manage to sleep a little. I put on the baby wrap and cuddled Vanessa and she finally slept. Oh the joy! Daddy learned a valuable lesson. Never part a child from her food especially at dinner time.
