On Vaccation

We've made it! Vanessa flew for the first time and loved it. She's never been so animated and loved every minute of it. Once it was her bed time, I put her in the Mama Kangaroo and she fell a sleep until we landed. She was wide eyed until we got into the hotel and needed a little persuading to get to sleep but slept until 10am EST. WOW.
She's all caught up.
We've spent time at Peter and Ila's with the kids. We had a blast. I'll post more about that with pictures later. We're now at Eric's grandparents and having more fun out in the nice weather. It's so nice out hear. I've been soaking up the sun and the scenery.
More to follow later.

It's official

Last night Vanessa grew from being an infant to a baby. Last week, as you know, Vanessa started rolling over. That was a sign that she needed to be moved into her crib. One night last week we caught her with one foot over the side of her cradle boat. (Sorry no pictures) I told her grandfather that she needed hiking straps. ;-)

Yesterday Christina offered to babysit while we went out to dinner. It was a generous offer but we had things to do. I asked her to come over and watch Vanessa while we put her crib together. She came over and had supper and took her out for a walk. We set up the crib in no time and since the nursery is getting small we took the high chair out and assembled it too. We will be needing it once we come back from BC since we'll be starting her on solid foods. The high chair was a huge hit with Vanessa. It has a built in toy and she sees everyone at their level. She can activate the lights and sounds. She can even twirl the top bit. It's funny to see the concentration on her face. She sticks out her tongue like her daddy. This should give me a break and maybe I'll get dinner on the table more often before Daddy comes home.

This is for those of you who like to print my pictures and put them on the fridge. You know who you are.

Below is a picture of Vanessa the morning of her first night in the crib. She up to her old tricks. She cuddles up to the side even in her bunting bag. She sure loves to squirm in her sleep. She even slept in this morning.

Sorry this post is a little disjointed but you get the gist.

Awesome!

Eric and I have been excited all week anticipating this camping trip to La Minerve. We we weren't disappointed. This year our good friends Laurel and Marc joined us with their kids. We met up at Port du Nord on the 15 and indulged in some McDonalds. It would be cruel to take the kids there and not eat. After lunch we head up to the property. The sun was out and the day was clear. Couldn't ask for better weather.
We were the first to arrive so we set up our tents and went for a swim. What a treat! Vanessa had her first swim in a lake. She didn't seem to mind. Just soaked it all in. (heheh. don't mind the pun) Clara on the other hand couldn't get enough and loved to be submerged.

Everyone started arriving after we got out and dried. Laurel brought a nice dinner. We had salad and pasta. Mmm.

After dinner we sat around the campfire and hung out under the stars. The sky was remarkable. Perfect for star gazing. We even saw a few shooting stars.

The next day was more of the same fun. Vanessa tried out a Jolly Jumper for the first time. What a riot. She loved it and soon she'll get the hang of it like Mathias. We agreed that there should be an adult version. Looks like too much fun!

For dinner we had shish kabobs and rice. It was tasty too. We had another blissful night under the stars with some songs and guitar playing. Ohh and lets not forget the marshmallows.

Sunday was more fun in the sun. Eric cooked everyone pancakes and we were back in the lake. It sprinkled as we took down the tents and the drive home was uneventful. Just the way I like it.

Vanessa had a great time and I got a break. She was passed around to many happy adults. Who entertained her while I got to do other things. She still likes her tent and Mathias has a matching one.

Here are a few of the pictures to illustrate the week-end

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

Vanessa is on the move. It's been about a week or so where Vanessa has been rolling from her back onto her side and she's quite comfortable there. Today while Eric and I were getting organized for the day. Eric put her down on her play mat and she was playing happily and then I noticed her on her side grasping for the mat and then the next thing we knew it she was on her stomach. Yippy! Eric was distracted so he didn't see the actual roll but the before and after positions. I have to put her on her tummy more often to see if she'll roll onto her back but for now I'm pleased as punch.
I picked up Christina and we went to Les Promenades. Vanessa was cranky so I changed her diaper, fed her a little and put her too sleep in the stroller. We went to lunch and she slept the whole time. It was so nice. We finally only bought stuff at Zellers. I bought a frying pan and Christina bought Vanessa a new outfit and some shoes for herself.
We went over to my parents and put Vanessa on the table and she demonstrated she could roll to her grandparents. She's such a show off. Christina was ready and caught it all on video.

Daddy had to work so he missed it all. :-( She was also in a good mood and blessed us with giggles. That always makes me smile.

I've got more to say but it will have to wait. My bed is calling
