19 KM today!

Today was awesome. I haven't had that much fun in a while. Eric had plans to play poker so I went to see MJ and Ron and make Mommy and Daddy dinner. I invited MJ and Ron to meet me half way. We met at the old Matco. What a tough ride. It was my first ride over 6 km and the wind was in my face and 'bents use whole new muscles. I loved every minute. It did feel like I was making a documentary with Ronald following. I hope to see his pictures soon.
Ronald set up my odometer and cadence. He did a great job. He even had some extra bits on hand to make it work. I do think I paid him back in bike time. Since this bike is so easy to adjust, I don't mind loaning it out. I think I should put one of those boomerangs on it though. *hehe*
There are so many adjustments that can be made on my bike. I'll be adjusting it for a couple of weeks I think. All the adjustments can be made with an allen key. I also need tires for these wheels just in case.

These pictures aren't bad but the video of MJ is great. Her first go at it. One day I'll learn how to upload them.

I made Mommy and Daddy dinner. It was pretty good but I think they were too tired to really enjoy it. The boat show was a great success. I think the best ever for them. Lots of good questions and great leads. They'll know in the next couple of weeks how good.

BTW Pamela seems to be settleing in really well. She's making friends already. Her place is great. She has a cell phone and I text message her pretty regularly. It's great fun.

New Bike

Well after I was bitten by the recumbent bug. I went online to torture myself some more and look at bikes way out of my price range right now. I ran a new Google search and found a posting for a Burley Koosah . I'd been eyeing this bike online and at the Primeau Velo down the street. The guy was asking a fair price for a bike that was 2 years old so I sent him a message with an offer. He sent me a reply with his phone number that afternoon. He wanted to talk to me! We spoke on Sunday and made arrangements to meet today.
Eric and I went to see it today and I fell in love before I even rode it. When he said it was like new, he meant it. He'd added some nice accessories as you see in the pic kick stand, cooler bag with quick release, bike pump and a bottle holder. Not a scratch on it and the tires still had their little nobs sticking out. I took it out for a test ride. It needed some adjustment for my shorter legs and I still have more adjustments to make but it's perfect. Burley's are easy to fit to anyone in minutes. We took down some info and I bought my first recumbent bike!!! Couldn't have asked for a better deal! It was half I would have paid for a new one. He gave me all the paper work along with the picture below. The owner really loved his bike but found it was to hard to transport.

Look forward to many trips on my Koosah. I'll post as much as I can! I can ride with my camera round my neck. That's all for now. I'll ride it on the week-end and let you know.

Nice Sunny Friday

On Friday I had the day off so I dragged Chris over to Quetzal This guy rents recumbent bikes. It was awesome. A nice beautiful day and I learned very quickly what I liked and disliked. Under the seat stearing is not for me! I liked my legs angled down a little instead of straight in front of me. Oh and learning was hard. The four year old with a new pink bike was doing much better. I only rented for 1 hour but I was hooked and my legs were jelly. See Christine's site for pics of me on the rental.
We went back to my house to have middle eastern pitas. They were left overs from when Kay was over. They were delicious. Lots of flavour. Garlic-Onions-Mint Mmmm... cold or hot very excellent.

food food food

Last week I had Kay over for dinner and made something new. Porcupine meat balls on Speghetti squash. I remeber haveing porcupine meat balls as a kid but I've never made them myself. They were pretty easy to make and very tasty. Definenately, comfort food.
Eric got leftovers. He called me from work to tell me how good it was.

On the week-end Christina and I went to Atwater market. I bought some sausages. Deer for Eric and OrangeGinger for me. They were very hot so I put sweet pepper jelly on them to cool them down. Mmmm. They were very tasty. I brought Christina to Loblaws and she bought steaks for everyone for dinner since they were nice and on sale. She came over for dinner that night and Eric bbq'd them. Eric had noticed that Dairy Queen was openned 2 weeks before so we went for desert.

On the Sunday I went over to Kays for an afternoon bbq. It was fun. I rode over there on my bike for the first time. Now I remember why bike shorts are so important. The day was nice and sunny so we hung out on her deck. The ride home wasn't as warm. I froze my finger tips off. (i forgot my gloves)
