Varia

I called my parents to find out how the trip is going. Sounds like they had a great day in Annapolis. It was warm and they took public transit to the mall to buy an iPod and some speakers. *what teenagers* They were picked up from the mall taken to a grocery store and over to another Vega owner's home for dinner.

I updated the pictures on my other site to smaller. Can't see the difference online except I was able to cram more in. I hope you enjoy. They only give me 2mb so I might look for a new home for them. We'll see.

As Eric said, "25 days until you leave". I'm sooo excited. Planning what to pack, getting my papers in order and making sure the camera works. lol. Pamela's planned some fun stuff for us to do. I'm sure she's looking forward to her peanut butter and iced tea.

Walk on Mount-Bruno

Yesterday, I went for a walk on Mount-Bruno with MJ. We shared a lunch, basked in the rays and took just a few pictures. Well... 103 to be precise. The fall coulors and the sunshine made it really easy to take awesome pictures if I do say so myself. I've posted the pictures on my other website. (it was faster) They're a little large so if you have dial up please be patient. I'm going to try an find an easy way to make them smaller.

I sent 2 pictures via Walmart's internet photo lab for Eric to pick up. Gotta make sure it works for my big plans to re-do the pictures in the living room. hehehe. I have plenty when I come back from the UK.

Last night Heather through a fabulous birthday party for Glenn. It was dinner and the theme of each course was beer. It was delicious. We had great conversation and good food. What else could you ask for? As you can tell by Melissa's face she go into the markers and the ice cream. Mmmm Ice cream. Well, Mommy gave her some to start of with. When she asked nicely, Eric gave her some and she asked nicely again with a cute smile Gail gave her some more. Ohhh boy!

New Camera showing off.

I'm posting a picture I took last weekend. This picture was taken sitting at the kitchen table at Mommy and Daddy's. (about 12ft away from the spice jars).

I ranted and raved sooo much about our new camara that last night. Eric's dad called to ask me how I liked it. I said it was awesome. Easy to use for the automatic features but if you wanted to get more technical you could. I guess I gave it a good sales pitch. They also went out and bought the same camera.

I'm looking forward to getting some really nice pics and hanging them in the living room. Something a little more personal than the calendar pictures.

Eric curling - Such concentration.

I went to watch Eric play on Monday and take some pictures. Now I know why people use a tripod. WoW. Every picture I took turned out blury. When he plays on the side sheet, I'll go back and take more.

Shouldn't he be watching the broom??

Trip to Mount - Bruno

Last week-end I went up on the only sunny day in the last two weeks for a walk on the mountain to take some pictures. Didn't get many exciting shot but this one is nice. It's my desktop for the next little while. I love the paters the sun and shadows make.
The weather is promissing for this week-end so I'll be returning with the Cannon.

Pictures

I'm going to start off by saying. I hope everyone who's had a really rough week with health and familly that next week shows significant improvement and you all comeout of this stronger.
Hello! Well this week has calmed down. There was a fire drill. It took almost the first hour of my day. Good thing Thursday was a nice sunny day. I didn't even have to walk down the 15 flights of stairs. Bonus.

Eric went out and bought the camera we've been wanting for months. The Canon Power Shot 2S IS. It's better than expected. We're so excited.

We got it Saturday afternoon and went over to Paul and Murielle's for Christy's b-day. The big 3-Ohhhh.

Paul and Joe.

I think Joe's excited about his dinner. Too bad the steak was so tought that he broke his fork!

We figure this picture is 10 years old. There's me, Paul B. some rovers from Halifax and Mike. They say the camera adds 10lbs but I think it did wonders by subtracting. I need to find that macro on my new camera. LOL

Now can anyone tell me where this picture was taken?

This week was pretty good. Eric is very happy to be back curling twice a week on Mondays and Tuesdays. He's at work on Thursdays so I'm pretty much a curling widow until spring.

Good thing Eric is bribing me by sending me to the UK for 10 days. I'll mostly be hanging out with Pamela. She's got lots of fun things for me to do. Today was exciting! I went ahead and booked my train from London to Leeds. How did people make travel arrangements before the internet. Pamela told me to book with "Virgin". I was very carefull to google that but good thing it came up as one of the first items of Virgin Trains. I thought about booking a RailSail package that would get me to Dublin at a great rate but Pamela told me I already had enough booked. I'm sure she's right.

For my trip I'm in search of a Media Reader for iPod w/ Dock Connector this will get information from my flash card ie pictures to my iPod. We tried CompuSmart, Best Buy and Future shop. It's great for backing up my pics and empting my flash card to make room for even more pictures. It also accomodates Pamela's card. I thought of Mommy and Daddy when I saw this Solio Solar/AC 10 Hour Battery Charger For iPod. Now isn't that cool !!!

Well tomorrow I'm going to try and get up to Mount Bruno for a walk. I'm in need of fresh air. All that rain really got to me. Couldn't pay me to live in Vancouver now. Yuck.

Today's events

Today was a very grim day. Losts of rain but not too cold. At work we finally got a handle of that every growing mailbox. I actually had a breather. When I asked about my time off, my stupervisor joked it away. He better not take it away!
In preparation of my trip I went out and bought a pair of hiking shoes. Merell. all leather. They came with free sox. Fancy wool ones. I only need one more thing for my trip. A watch! Traveling without a watch is too stressful for me.
My parents have posted on their blog. Very nice to hear from them. A lot of boats don't have heaters so they're enjoying every degree of it.

"All you need is a Library Card and a bus pass"

This morning we took the bus to the Longueuil metro and downtown to the Bibliotheque National de Quebec. I wanted to find a more current book on pressure cooking but Eric had his own mission. He's been trying to get his hands on the latest Kathy Reichs book Cross Bones. We weren't allowed to inquire about my interests until he had his hands on the very hard to get (unless you want to splurge for hard cover) novel. BTW. Eric skipped his way out of the library. Cheap thrills for sure. We took out a couple of cook books and I sat down to read some magazines. One on the packaging industry in particular but I jumped through it quickly since Eric was anxiously reading over my shoulder.

We came home and had bagels and soup. Very nice on a wet and blustery day. I leafed through my pressure cooker cook book and the bread machine one. Tomorrow I'll make a grocery list and try some out. Probably Sweet and Sour pork.

We picked Daniel up for his birthday dinner and brought him over to Memère's for drinks. The drinks were lovely and David (Daniel's dad) thought it would be a nice idea that on his 25th b-day we embarrass him by passing around old report cards, diplomas and pictures. What great fun.

We all went out to Casa Greque for dinner. It's always nice to see everyone around a bottle of nice wine. "All you need is a Library Card and a bus pass" was David's line. Ahhhh the simple life of a newly retired man. Can't say I blame him.

Plans were made for the next big family event. Christmas ! It's been agreed that everyone's coming over to our place. I'm looking forward to it. I wish our fire place was in working order but we'll have to warm every one up with good cheer instead.

I can't finish this day without a mention about my parent's big adventure. It started today. Today's the day they take off to go south in their Vega sailboat. They will be missed but we'll keep up to date on our blogs. They'll be posting on Voila's Adventures.

This should keep you satisfied for a while.

What a whirl wind !

I've had a very exciting couple of days. Friday was the end of a very rough work week. Good thing it was employee week at work. They sent in doughnuts one day and pizza another. On Friday my boss came up to me and gave me Gift certificates for a job well done. 25$ to the mall and Guzzo movie tickets. Since I was the only one to get some, I didn't spread it around although the money was spent in my head in the next hour or so.
Eric finished on time and kindly picked me up at work. On the way home, he got a call to return to work. The "joys" of being a manager. Bell came into install highspeed and had to do some wiring. I took advantage of this and had him drop me off at the mall to spend my certificate. (spending in record time) I walked in and had my hair cut. Boy was that a treat. She cut off about 6 inches. I should have done that before summer. hehehe. When I was done so was Eric so timing was great.

Saturday morning I sat down and booked my flight. Pamela has been trying to get me over the pond to visit her and I finally broke down and bought a ticket to London. I am so very excited. I've never been to Europe. The plan is to fly to London and make my way to Leeds on the Friday and spend some short time in Leeds before taking off to Edinburgh with Pamela. I'm going to spend the week in Leeds. She'll be working but I'll keep myself busy. We'll head back to London together and spend the night before I fly home. Eric's support has been wonderful. He plans to spend the whole week at the curling club.

Saturday night we went over to MJ and Ron's and brought fresh bagels. They were very appreciative. Mommy and Daddy joined us and since they hadn't had dinner they scoffed down some of the bagels. Don't worry they left some for breakfast. MJ had made some of her famous lemon loaf. We talked about the boat and their camping trip and I went on and on about work and my trip to the UK.
