The final result. I'll post more exciting pictures once we get the furniture in. Ohhh. I guess we should build it first.

It all starts here. Eric thinking. Did you know one cannot build a deck with out thoes flat pencils?

Watch your fingers Grandpa!

Daddy has alway's said that I loved work sooo much I could watch it all day.

It's starting to look deck like !

Boy, do I wish I was taller!

Pictures of the day's events. Lots of fun in the sun!

Gazebo

Sunday was a great day! Everything went as planned. (very rare in construction) and only one 2 trips to home depot.
In the morning I dropped Eric off at work to pick up the Palason Van. Not many vehicles carry 12 ft planks. I went over to Mommy and Daddy's to pick up an expert, Grandpa. We made coffee and met Eric at the house.
I gave Grandpa the tour. The house was at it's messiest. It's much tidier now. Sorry Grandpa. It's always nice to show off the house, our pride a joy/work in progress.
We added a new room to the house although it's not very well insulated but it's got a nice view of the garden and hardwood floors. hehehe. On Saturday, we started the deck by laying the gravel and footing. That was easier than anticipated. (real easy when Eric does all the work) Sunday morning we framed it all out. Grandpa and I helped as much as we could but Eric seemed to have everything under control. I left him to his job and made sure he was feed and hydrated. After lunch the deck part when on. We put in mosquito netting. Might be over doing it but it's much easier to do now than to go back and put it in. Grandpa napped in the lawn chair in the shade, What a great life, while Eric and I drilled most of the planks. I did 2 rows to Eric's 5. I tried... screwing up takes practice.
Christina spent the day. Once the deck was done, we went shopping for dinner and a BBQ for Daddy. Boy is it hard to chose what to do for dinner! I decided on BBQ'd drumsticks with potato salad and MJ brought coleslaw. It was very enjoyable all round. Welsh's grape juice was a real hit.

Enough talking from me. Have a look at the pictures.

It's sauna hot.

Well things have been great. Lots of excitement these days. Pamela had a great time in Bermuda but she missed us sooo that she's staying another week. lol That's the positive spin. She was able to see Grandpa Walter.

Grandpa showed up on Sunday morning and spent the day with Daddy. They had a great time and came home to a BBQ dinner. It was tasty too bad I left the left over salad in Mommy and Daddy's car. What a nice feeling to have so much of the family together. Too bad Eric had to eat and run.

We went to see the final performance at the Circus School. They are very talented performers. If they could eat bugs, they would do very well in "Fear Factor".

Sorry this is short and sweet. It's too hot to blog.

Next project !!!

We're all excited about our next project. We find that we'd like to spend more time outside in our back yard. We bought a house instead of a condo for his exact reason. We would also like a bug free experience. Yes, we're big wusses. We found a gazebo that we like. It's a metal structure with fabric roof and screen for the sides. We found an affordable one at Club Picine. That's the cheap part. The gazebo needs a deck to sit on so we don't muddy our feet. We agreed on a wood deck. It's more work and more cost but much warmer on the feet. No demolition this time but it's a nice week-end project. I promise to be providing pictures.
I'm off to surf the net for plans. (this gazebo will need furniture)

Before ! with ugly tree

These art the before and after pictures of our tree removal this week. It was hard work and Eric did a great job removing the stump. Now I'm not exactly sure what to put in it's place. Something smaller and low maintenance that likes shade.

Eric adds Sandy's Deli to his favorites

Pamela spent this week with us while we were on vaccation. Everything went quite well. Especially the weather that I special ordered. Next time I'll order the weather without the UV rays that stung my shoulders. We shopped, went to the movies and lounged around the house. Makes for a relaxing week off.
As usual, Eric was a little busier than I. We aggreed that we had one too many trees in the front way. Eric took it appon himself to remove it. We cut down all the branches and made them small for bundleing. I through them out to the curb. It's amazing what the city of brossard garbage men will take. Then there was the stump... With lots of digging and cutting and a few pulls with the car. It finally came out. Yippy!! and no car damage. Now I would like to put some bleeding hearts there.

Eric went down to the states with Daddy to fix a furling gear. He's learning a lot about boats in preparation for when we take him sailling in August. I think he's going to love it. Anyway... the highlight of his trip was his first Sandy's deli sub. Now he knows what we've been talking about and understands why we love them. He loved it soo much that when we went to North Hero to check out the sites we went back so he could have the same sub. Mmmmm.
